Check your microfilters

Please note: If you have a pre-filtered phone socket in your home you don't need to use a microfilter. Please don't try to connect your Sky Hub to any other phone socket in your home.

Without correctly installed microfilters around your home, you may suffer from one or more of the following:

  • Slow internet speed
  • Unreliable or intermittent internet connection
  • Noise or interference on the line when making telephone calls

Microfilters are small white boxes with a phone lead or connector on them, supplied with your Sky Hub. These stop interference between your broadband and other devices that use your phone line, such as Sky boxes, telephones and fax machines.

Make sure your microfilters are set up correctly on all phone sockets

For every phone socket that has a device connected to it, a microfilter must be connected directly to that socket. Everything else must then be connected to that microfilter.

  • If your Sky Hub is connected to the phone socket, it should be connected to the microfilter port marked Sky Hub using the grey ADSL cable.

  • Everything else should be connected to the microfilter port marked Sky Box/Phone.

If your Sky box uses a telephone splitter to allow you to connect more than one device to the telephone socket, this should be connected to the microfilter port marked Sky Box/Phone.
