Connect to the internet using wires
If your computer will always be next to your Sky Hub or router, then you may want to set up a wired Sky Broadband connection. You’ll need the Sky Hub or router, a computer or laptop and the yellow or black Ethernet cable.
First you’ll need to unpack and start up your router. This may be the Sky Hub or an older version of the Sky router. You can find help and advice on doing this in our Setting up your Sky Hub guide.
Don't forget to check your Sky Broadband activation date. You will not be able to set up your broadband connection if your Sky Broadband has not been activated yet. You can find this on the top of your Sky router packaging, on the Welcome Letter from Sky or you can check online to see if your service has been activated.
Once you have set up your router follow these steps below.
- Plug one end of the yellow or black Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port of the side or back of your computer.
- Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into any of the yellow ports on the back of your Sky Hub or router.
- Open a web browser and visit any website to complete your set up.
