Set up parental controls for Sky Go

Sky Go allows you to use PIN-protected parental controls that are independent of those that apply to your Sky TV. Before you can set up parental controls on Sky Go, you'll need to set up a Sky Go PIN.

Create a Sky Go PIN

  1. Sign in to the Settings section of My Sky using your Sky iD, then select Sky Go PIN.
  2. Enter a new four-digit PIN in the Enter new PIN field. Avoid using your date of birth or any other combination that might be easy for others to guess.
  3. Repeat the new PIN in the Confirm new PIN field.
  4. Select Update PIN.

How to use parental controls on Sky Go

This process will affect Sky Go only. Any parental controls on Sky TV will not be changed.

  1. Sign in to the Settings section of My Sky using your Sky iD, then select Sky Go PIN.
  2. Choose a level at which the PIN will be requested when accessing content through Sky Go.

Sky Go content with the selected certification and all higher certifications will now be restricted. For example, choosing Cert 12 will restrict access to Cert 12, Cert 15, and Cert 18 programmes.

Note: Viewing restrictions cannot be applied to programmes streamed live through Sky Go unless those programmes have an age certification. All programmes in the On Demand section of the Sky Go website and Sky Go app do have an age certification, so viewing restrictions can be applied there.

Turning off parental controls on Sky Go

This process will affect Sky Go only. Any parental controls on Sky TV will not be changed.

  1. Sign in to the Settings section of My Sky using your Sky iD, then select Sky Go PIN.
  2. Set your access level to OFF.

Parental controls will no longer be applied to any content downloaded or streamed through Sky Go.

Watching content offline in Sky Go Desktop

Offline viewing in Sky Go Desktop is available only when Sky Go parental controls are turned off.

When Sky Go parental controls are turned on, you will not be able to watch any programmes offline in Sky Go Desktop. This is because Sky Go Desktop needs to be online in order to check whether your PIN is required and, if it is required, to check that the PIN is correct.

If you try to watch a programme offline, you will be prompted to sign in with your Sky iD. If that programme is restricted, you'll then be prompted for your Sky Go PIN.
