Connect a Sony PSP to your wireless network
You can connect your PSP (PlayStation Portable) to the internet using a wireless connection.
Before you start, your PSP must be switched on and your Sky router must be switched on and connected to the internet.
Step 1: Select the PSP Settings menu
Select the PSP Settings menu, then scroll down and select Network Settings.
Step 2: Scroll down to Infrastructure Mode
Scroll down and select Infrastructure Mode.
Step 3: Select New Connection
Select New Connection from the menu list.
Step 4: Select Scan
From the options that appear on the menu list, select Scan.
Step 5: Select the network key
Look for your wireless network from the list of available networks and select it. You can find these details on the Connect card or the Keep me handy card that came with your Sky router and on the side or bottom of your Sky router.
Unless you’ve changed it, your wireless network name will y be something like "SKY" followed by five numbers. For example SKY 12345.
Step 6: Press the right button
When your network key displays, press the right button.
Step 7: Select the right security method
Select the security method your Sky router uses. This will be WPA-PSK (TKIP) unless you have changed your encryption settings. Press the right button to continue.
Step 8: WPA Key prompt
When you see the WPA Key prompt, press the X button, as you're going to edit/enter the WPA key.
Step 9: Enter your wireless password
Enter your wireless password exactly as it's printed next to your network key. You can find this on the Connect card which came with your Sky Hub or if you have any other router, it’s on the Keep me handy card. These details are also on the back or side of your Sky router.
Always enter your wireless password in capitals – there are no numbers. For security reasons, a series of asterisks ( * ) rather than the password itself may appear on your screen.
When you've finished, press the right button to continue.
Step 10: Select Easy
On the Address Settings screen, select Easy (press the right button with this option highlighted).
Step 11: Select a connection to edit
The highlighted network key should, by default, be the one relating to your Sky router. Press the right button to continue.
Step 12: Your Sky Broadband connection details
The details of your Sky Broadband connection are summarised on the Setting List. Press the right button to continue.
Step 13: Save your network settings
Press the X button on your keypad in order to save your network settings.
Step 14: Your PSP will test the connection for you
Now that your connection settings have been saved, press the X button on your keypad and your PSP will test the connection for you.
Step 15: A summary of the test results is displayed on screen
Once this is complete, a summary of the test results is displayed on screen.
If you are having problems getting online
Your Sky Broadband connection will now appear in the list of available connections set up for your PSP.
If you experience problems getting online, check to see if you can get online using another device such as your computer. If you can’t get online, see our Sky Broadband connection problems article the problem is likely to be with your internet connection. If you can view websites with your computer and the problem is only affecting your games console, you need to refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
