Sky Go supported devices

Sky Go devices

Sky Go lets you stream Sky TV on your computer, mobile or tablet device, so you don't have to be tied to your TV. You can find a list of compatible devices below, as well as the technical specifications you’ll need to run Sky Go.

Please note that we continually review device support and as new devices and operating systems appear we may stop supporting older versions. This means that to continue to use Sky Go you may need to update the software on your device from time to time.

  • Mobile

    Sky Go is available on the following mobile devices:

    Apple: iPod touch (4th Generation or higher), iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C

    Google: Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 5

    HTC: Desire, Desire S, Desire X, Desire HD, Incredible S, Sensation, Sensation XE, One, One Mini, One V, One S, One SV, One X, One X+, One XL, One M8

    LG: 4X HD, G2

    If your mobile device is not listed above, then unfortunately Sky Go is not supported on your device. We’re constantly developing the app for new mobile devices though, so please try again soon.

    Technical specifications

    Apple

    Sky Go is supported on Apple mobile devices running iOS 5.1 or higher (Sky Go does not support beta OS versions).

    If you’re not sure which version of the iOS software you have, open the Settings menu, then select General, followed by About. You’ll see your version number listed alongside Version.

    If you need to update your iOS, select Software Update from the General menu and follow the on screen instructions. You’ll need to be connected to the internet in order to download your software update.

    Android

    For the devices listed above that run the Android operating system (all of the devices not manufactured by Apple), you’ll need version 2.2 or later of the operating system software for Sky Go to work.

    If you’re not sure which version of the Android operating system you have, open the Settings menu (usually represented with a cog symbol), then select About device. You’ll see the version number listed under the header Android version.

    You can update your software version by selecting software update and following the on screen instructions. You’ll need to be connected to the internet in order to download your software update.

  • Tablet

    Sky Go is available on the following tablet devices:

    Apple: iPad 1, iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad Air, iPad Mini, iPad Mini 2

    Google: Nexus 7, Nexus 7 (2013)

    Samsung: Galaxy Tab 2 7.0. Galaxy Tab 3 7.0

    Sky Go Tablet app for Android tablets

    As well as the Google and Samsung devices listed above, our Sky Go Tablet app for Android is compatible with the majority of tablet devices (seven inches and larger) running the Android operating system version 4.0 or later. Due to the sheer number of Android tablet devices available, we're not able to test the app on every single one, but we have carried out successful tests on a number of major devices.

    The only Android tablet devices that are not supported by Sky Go are the Asus Transformer TF101 and Amazon Kindles.

    If your Android version is lower than 4.0, select software update and then follow the on screen instructions. You’ll need to be connected to the internet in order to download your software update.

    You can watch Sky Go on your computer through a web browser on you Windows PC or Apple Mac.

  • Games consoles

    If you're a Sky Go Extra customer, you can also watch Sky TV on your Xbox 360 games console. You'll need an Xbox Live subscription and at least 250MB of available space on your hard drive.

How many devices can I use to watch Sky Go?

With Sky Go, you can watch TV on the move on up to two devices. You can double the number of devices on which you can use Sky Go by upgrading to Sky Go Extra, allowing you to download programmes to watch offline on up to four devices.

Copy protection and tracking

Sky Go does not permit the use of rooted or jail broken devices. Second screen display is also not permitted, for instance through the use of Air Play, Miracast, HDMI/TV-Out and Chromecast.

Individual user experience of Sky Go is tracked through Conviva across iOS devices and the Android tablet app. The Sky Go advertising platform also tracks individual usage for the provision of serving advertisements.

Sky employs technologies such as digital rights management and copy protection to control the play back and copying of digital content provided via Sky Go.
